WEBBA season starts for Coach Stacey this week!

Coach Adam Stacey will continue to lead the Gloucester Kings 2 again this season with a new challenge ahead of them with a return to the WEBBA league situated in and around Bristol. We got to catch up with Coach Stacey on the eve of the first game.

Coach, how are you feeling ahead of the new season?

I'm excited about a new challenge for this group of players. We have a lot of talent that sadly can't commit to the travel commitments of National League basketball, so to be able to improve the level they can play in the week is great.

You have some academy players joining you this season to develop?

In talking with GM, Jay Marriott this season we felt there was a real opportunity to come much closer together and build something special. One of those conversations was being responsible for developing our academy players who need men's experience to get ready for NBL level eventually. We have some great veteran players who are very understanding and excited to work with them and play their part in the development process.

This season has seen NBL and WEBBA players practicing together, how have you found it?

It's really helped to bring the club together, there has been a really good energy around the practices. We know we have talent that can challenge our NBL guys and help get them ready for the season and vice versa we won't face that talent all season so really raises our levels. As a staff it enables us all to be together and give valuable input to sessions and how we want to play as Kings.

Everyone at the club wishes Coach Stacey and his team all the best for their first game of the season.
