Queens swoop for Abbott

Gloucester City Queens are thrilled to announce the signing of former Oaklands Wolves shooting guard Claire Abbott. Abbott becomes the latest signing for the South-West team, who look to have pulled together a strong line-up for their first year in the WBBL. The Canadian played in college for Nipissing University Lakers averaging 13 points a game by 40% shooting, as well as adding 2.1 steals and 3.1 rebounds per outing during her college career. “I am looking forward to being a part of the Queen’s inaugural season. I am no stranger to the grit and mental toughness required to pave the way to create a successful program,” commented Claire. “I have been working hard to ensure I am ready to compete along side my coach and teammates to make our first year a success.” “I am ready to make an impact on and off the court with the Queens and make my community proud both in Whitehorse, Yukon Canada, my home town, and in Gloucester.” Gloucester Sport CEO Jay Marriott commented:

“We have been talking to Claire for a while so it’s great to get her onboard. She has WBBL experience which is going to be important as we navigate this inaugural season. Claire’s playing style is the perfect fit for what we are trying to achieve and like the rest of our signings just a great person. You put basketball talent with true locker room spirit, you can create something special.”
