Kings add pathway for stars of tomorrow

Gloucester City Basketball have announced their academy pathway in partnership with St Peter's High School. The 16-18 year old program will see some of the top student/athletes from the county of Gloucestershire continue their academic career whilst undergoing a demanding basketball schedule. That schedule will include on-court practices/skill work/conditioning as well as analysis/recovery/strength and conditioning.

The team will compete in the College Basketball League (CBL) geared towards athletes who have realistic potential to achieve excellence and are seeking to perform at the highest level. Along side academy games there will be playing outlets in the National Basketball League (NBL) at U18's and Men's level.

In addition the club are delighted to announce two overseas trips within the academic experience, one headed over to Sweden to take part in a tournament early 2024, the second to Florida, USA early July 2024 to compete in AAU basketball. This will be a fantastic opportunity to play against different styles of basketball but also trips that give some amazing life experiences.

Managing Director, Jay Marriott had this to say:

We are excited for our young players and the opportunities that will come from this pathway. St Peter's are a great academic partner with experience of working with elite athletes. We think the overall offer of the program has depth and diversity, it will challenge our talented players and is another progression in the county as we look to grow the game even more.
